Facebook bullying by cut and paste

Why are so many cut & paste Facebook messages that claim to be for the good of mankind, so bloody aggressive? “Post this or you’re a coward” always implied, simply to bully you into complying. All those “not many people will post this” as a tiny carrot; you can get a little bit of self-worth by feeling you’ve been a good boy or girl, one of the special few. It’s classic abuse: tell the victim they’re useless, reverse good/bad in their heads, and offer a tiny psychological reward for compliance: “this is your fault, you made me do it, it’ll be our little secret, Daddy loves you…” *shudder*

I often sympathise entirely with the apparent sentiment, but refuse to be part of the circle of aggression they engender.  People I really like take part, so perhaps they can explain how I’ve got it all wrong. But I’ll take some convincing, for I worry they’re simply victims of the initial scam.  I want to slap the bully who first wrote it and tell them to stop taking advantage of kind, caring people with threats and guilt, just to see their nasty little game spread across the site. It’s so fucking manipulative.

Oh, and good morning. You are welcome to cut and paste anything I say here. Or not. Neither behaviour will make you a bad person. :o)
